French Dip Au Jus

Equipment

  • 12" skillet, crock pot, small dipping bowls

Ingredients
  

  • 3 lb boneless rump or chuck roast
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 pkg dry onion soup mix
  • 1 10 1/2 oz beef broth
  • 4 baguettes
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 4 optional, provolone cheese slices

Instructions
 

  • Brown meat & onions in an oil sprayed skillet .
  • Move ingredients to sprayed crock pot .
  • Add onion soup mix, beef broth and garlic.
  • Cook covered for 6 to 8 hours on low heat.
  • Remove meat to a large bowl and shred with fork.
  • Take most of the juices from crock pot and put into small dipping bowls.
    Leave a little juice in pot and return meat to warm it.
  • Serve on baguettes with cheese (if desired) and dipping bowls . A great side dish of coleslaw goes well with this dish.
